Paddling and Exploring Virginia
This site is my personal collection of paddles in Virginia. I have paddles on the Mattaponi, Dragon Run
Swamp, James, South Anna, Chickahominy, Maracossic, and Swift Creek. You will find information
gathered while paddling the lakes, rivers, creeks and coastal waters of Virginia. Most of what you'll find
here is my personal opinion, so take it as that. "Just my opinion." This site is a work in progress, so as I
do more trips I will post them.  See the trip journals page for all the details.

You will also find photos, maps and diagrams of the trips. One of my paddling partners (Kirk) is a
environmental scientist so I get to pick his brain during the whole trip and learn more than I would
without his expertise. For instance, the eastern most stand of Hemlock trees (in VA.) can be found on a
stretch of the Mattaponi River.

I have a links page for the gear I use and the gear I wish I had. Also, on this page you will find other
information pertaining to trips or bodies of water I have paddled. In addition, you will find stories and
photos of hunting and fishing trips I have had.
